second term english exam TCL
Dear Sir,
We are a group of residents who live near the factory which you run. As we are very much concerned by the aesthetic and hygienic aspect of our environment, we are deeply worried by the pollution the factory causes.
Our area is always surrounded by a black cloud of fumes and it is almost impossible for us to enjoy a blue sky. This pollution of the atmosphere has already endangered many citizens’ health. As we breathe toxic gases, many of us suffer from asthma and bronchitis. Your factory is causing a lot of
damage to our health.
On their way to school, our children may be run-over by the huge lorries carrying your cement bags. They also have to jump over dirty waters which flow across or along the pavement. Thus, threatening their life.
Our housewives spend most of their time cleaning our windows and houses, and they always get their washings covered with dirty particles. The cement dust has even reached the inside of our cupboards, and it is quite difficult to get rid of it. What is worse is that this dirty dust has deposited on
our lungs.
In addition to this, we are enduring the noise of your engines and of the lorries which roar and rumble night and day. Our babies can’t sleep without being disturbed by that continuous noise. This perpetual noise is causing nuisance to everybody. We can neither wake up late in the morning nor have a nap in the afternoon.
As a result, we would be very grateful to you if you could ask the local council to remove your factory far from our district. This is the only solution left. But before that, you could impose to reserve some special hours and days to the lorries-drivers in order to load their lorries with your cement bags. Your factory should stop to work from time to enable the atmosphere to renew, and temporarily get rid of these noxious gases.
We hope our concern will receive your favourable attention and that the appropriate measures will soon be taken to solve our problem.
